Finning Named Supplier Of The Year
December 1, 2009
Finning’s win this year is “strongly tied to the delivery of the 200th Caterpillar 797B to the oil sands earlier this year, and basically… [those] mines don't run without Finning,” Oilsands Review editor Deborah Jaremko wrote to Finning in an email. “The company has also shown resilient results in tough times, and has significant service operations to support its fleet supply,” she added.
The Supplier of the Year article – in the magazine’s November issue – highlights why Finning is a leader in the oil sands business: in the 400-ton truck category, we hold 91 per cent market share; in the 240-ton truck category, 92 per cent; 100- to 200-ton trucks, 95 per cent; ultra-large tractors, 89 per cent; large tractors, 94 per cent; ultra-large graders, 100 per cent; large graders, 99 per cent.
Dave Parker, president, Dave Primrose, executive vice-president, mining, and Gordon Finlay, vice-president, mining, who were interviewed for the piece, agree that the Supplier of Year honour belongs to every Finning employee who works in and supports our oil sands business. “It would be really good to achieve this title in normal economic times,” said Dave Parker, “but it’s outstanding to achieve this given the challenges we’ve experienced this year. I just want to thank our employees for their work.”
Oilsands Review, part of the JuneWarren-Nickle’s network, which also produces magazines such as Oilweek and Alberta Construction, launched the annual award in 2007. Finning was also nominated in 2008.
