Finning Answers Mining Museum's Call

April 7, 2010

Finning employee Steve Cook made sure museum staff were trained in the operation and maintenance of the skid steer. The museum, located north of Vancouver in Brittania Beach, sent a plea for help to the mining industry.

Within days, Finning answered the call, donating a used 2007 Caterpillar 246B skid steer worth about $30,000.

Norm Trottier, Edmonton-based Finning used equipment manager for general construction, orchestrated the donation, and was happy to see the machine being put to good use.

“This machine has a door and it has heat, two things they were lacking with their previous machine. With the rain and snow in that area, they were two things the museum badly needed,” Norm said.

Finning Squamish, BC sales rep Steve Cook, who trained the staff in how to use and maintain the machine, says the new skid steer, will be crucial to the museum’s completion of the Britannia Project, which aims to preserve the property’s historic buildings.
