Finning Sells First D7E

September 3, 2010

Caterpillar’s electric-diesel D7E is making waves across Finning’s territory. It was love at first site.

When David Laboucane, owner of Surmont Sand and Gravel in Fort McMurray, climbed on board the new D7E at a demonstration earlier this year, he knew he had to have one.

“He was simply amazed,” recalls Kelly Black, Finning oil sands sales rep. “He called right away and said he wanted one.”

Famous for being Caterpillar’s first diesel-electric machine, the Cat D7E tractor is more than just a very fuel-efficient piece of equipment. It also boasts reduced emissions, fewer parts, and more power.

Kelly says it was the increased power and the improved maneuverability that sold David on the new machine, which is expected to be delivered by September 17.

Look for a story on David’s purchase in an upcoming issue of Tracks & Treads.
