Usage-Based Service Contracts

For customers who are billed for monthly usage of a unit under contract, we are changing the contract language so we may provide you with an invoice based on an estimated meter reading when an actual month end meter reading is not received or not available.

We will require a month end meter reading in order to process a bill based on actual meter readings (the same as we do today). If we cannot obtain a meter reading from you, then we may estimate usage and provide a bill based on that estimated meter reading. Upon receipt of an actual meter reading, the next month’s invoice will automatically adjust to reflect the correct charges.

This adjustment won’t affect many of our customers as meter readings are either captured electronically or actual meter readings are received on a regular basis. We will continue to work with all customers, as we do now, to obtain meter readings and anticipate using an estimated reading in a limited number of cases.
